PINOGEN‘s roots started when Shin Jung-hwa, the chairman of Solnara and CEO Shin Byel’s father, developed a food product using Korean traditional red pine extract for the first time in Korean history. CEO Shin Jung-hwa was born in Uiseong County, North Gyeongsang Province, and started Solnara thanks to his childhood experiences of peeling pine needles and eating them with porridge. He became deeply immersed his ancestors‘ wisdom and medicinal know-how that could be found in pine trees.

Under the motto “Quitting in the face of a challenge means eternal failure”, he used his endless curiosity to dive head first into the development of pine tree products. Solnara has now become a company that has released the most pine tree products in Korea, both in name and real life. The company holds about 40 pine tree-related intellectual property rights, and has received numerous commendations for their legitimacy and use of technology, all while expanding state-of-the-art pine needle research facilities.

For the first time in Asia, Solnara CEO Shin Jung-hwa succeeded in developing red pine capsule products (red pine oil) using pine needles. Red pine oil is a product made with pine needles from red pine trees that are collected and washed under high pressure. This allows for high-purity extracting of the pine concentrate, which is then placed in soft capsules for easy carrying and consumption. Additionally, Solnara has launched more than 100 types of products in various fields, such as food and beverage, cosmetics, and fragrance. They are actively exporting their products to the global market, promoting Korea's pine products all around the world.

Based in North Gyeongsang Province at the center of Korea‘s Baekdu-daegan mountain range, PINOGEN was created to stabilize the domestic demand for red pine, one of Korea's unique tree species, and to develop it as a high value-added product. In addition, the company intends to revive discarded values, and create a cycle of growth with the local community by producing materials that are good for the skin and good to eat by using by-products generated through the process of cultivating trees instead of cutting them down.
